Two circus type goals from Oxford United signalled more misery for Russell Martin at the Kassam Stadium in the EFL Cup tonight. The first a calamitous error by keeper Steven Benda, the second a ridiculous deflection from an Oxford United free kick. And all this after Swansea looked to be coasting to their first win of the season. |

Russell Martin changed his squad around to fit in with two thirty minute each way games against Colchester at Fairwood. The first game the swans lost 2-0 but won the second 1-0. It was an experimental afternoon of behind closed doors football, but the swans manager surely won’t be too happy with some of his sides key players. |

Swansea City have confirmed those players who will be departing this summer from the club, there seems to be a focus on the academy especially with numerous senior players being allowed to leave as well. Korey Smith, Ben Hamer and Yan Dhanda are already reported as leaving and now there’s a whole load more. |

Joel Piroe completed his first appearance in the League Cup with a well taken third goal for the swans this evening in Berkshire. A TV and streaming blackout meant only those with radio access could listen to the game, and even then many Swans TV subscribers promised free audio access didn’t benefit. Fortunately the technical issues, if that was the issue tonight in Swansea were not replicated on the pitch by a much changed team. |

Swansea City have announced their squad numbers for the coming season which starts tomorrow at Blackburn Rovers. Captain Matt Grimes who is still at the club is number eight, and if he passes a fitness test this afternoon will travel with the squad to Lancashire today. |
